Year 2 Trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Full CalendarUncategorised

This event will take place between 9:00am and 3:00pm on 18/06/2026

In line with our science unit of work ‘Living Things and Their Habitats’ next half-term, I have organised a trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, as part of our unit of work.  This trip will take place on Thursday 18th June, 2026.

The trip will be a full day excursion, leaving school at 09:15am and returning to school for approximately 3:15pm. Therefore, all children will need a packed lunch but please, no glass bottles or cans. A school packed lunch is available for anyone who would like one, consisting of a sandwich, home baking, fruit bag and a drink. The children will be carrying their own packed lunches, so please ensure they have a suitable bag such as a small rucksack. As the majority of the day will be spent outdoors, the children should wear weather appropriate clothing. School uniform will be required, but we would like the children to wear tracksuit bottoms/shorts instead of trousers or skirts (as they may become muddy) together with suitable footwear eg trainers. Children should also bring a waterproof coat. No spending money is required.

At the park, the children will have the opportunity to take part in a World Habitats & Adaptations workshop, led by the wildlife park staff. This will include first-hand experiences and opportunities to ask questions to expert wildlife staff. The children will also have time to walk around the park to see a variety of different animals.

Following guidance from Wakefield’s safeguarding team, please could I take this opportunity to remind you that airtags should NOT be used to track children/people and that if an air tag is found on your child or child’s belongings, it will be disabled. Tracking people using airtags is forbidden by Apples Terms of use.
