Hello, Year 2!
Well what a strange year it has been. Although we haven't seen each other in a while, this is our last week as a class together. Your last year as infants and the start of your journey into juniors. It's a shame we can't be doing all the nice activities we usually would be doing in class together, but I have tried to make this week's topic work similar to what we would have done. This should help you reflect on the year you've had and think ahead to your first junior year.
Remember, this week your phone call will not be from me but from your new teacher, Mr Musgrove! I'm sure you'll have lots to tell him about yourself and hopefully you'll have chance to meet him properly too at the transition session on Monday.
Although we aren't finishing the year together in class as usual, you will still see me in the new school year because we'll still be classroom neighbours! Well done to all of you for getting through a tricky year and still working hard at work. I'm sure you've made lots of progress and I'll look forward to seeing you all back in the new school year.
Have a lovely last week and stay safe!

Year 2 English
Here is a set of English activities to complete for each day. They include both reading and writing, remember what everyone's writing must include... capital letters, fingers spaces and full stops!
If you want to include any super writing features, use our writing support mat and spelling mat to improve and check your work.
See this week's English activities on our weekly timetable!
As children are at home, it is a good opportunity to practise their handwriting. Below I have attached several handwriting booklets/ activities in progressive order. If you feel your child struggles with handwriting, Booklets 1 - 4 focus on letter formation in a plain script. Booklets 5-7 introduce your child to cursive handwriting and provides and opportunity for them to practise cursive formation to gain confidence. The last booklet can be used for children already confident with cursive formation to practise using cursive in different words and sentences. You can select the book that you feel suits your child's handwriting ability best or, alternatively, they could work through the booklets from the beginning. The choice is yours. Either way, these booklets are a great activity to give your child to do independently!
